Christmas 2019 concert in Dunsford Village Hall

Our Christmassy concert on the 1st of December featured the lovely Schubert Mass No.2 in G

We also sang:-

Northern Lights by Ola Gjeilo, Gaudete, O Holy Night, For Unto Us a Child is Born (from Handel’s Messiah), Winter Wonderland, and I Wonder as I Wander (a special request from our Honorary President, June Squire) and some carols with the audience participating.

Christmas 2021 concert in the Teign Valley Community Hall, Christow

Our Christmassy concert (our first performance since Christmas 2019) on the 11th of December featured two choruses from the rousing Messiah by Frederic Handel:

And the Glory of the Lord and For Unto Us a Child is Born.

We also sang:-

Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen, Jesus Christ the Apple Tree by Elizabeth Poston,

Star Carol and Nativity Carol by John Rutter, Another Openin', Another Show by Cole Porter,  Lean On Me by Bill Withers and some carols with the audience participating as they did in a Christmas round for audience and choir: Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat......

Readings by choir members were Christmas by John Betjeman, Village Carol Singing

by Susan Hill, The Oxen by Thomas Hardy, Talkin' Turkeys by Benjamin Zephaniah and

The Nativity Mini-Story by Gervase Phinn.

Summer Concert 2022 in St. Mary's Church, Dunsford
This free, pop-up event replaced the cancelled Dartmouth concert.

Soloists: our own soprano Sarah Maybin from Trusham, and excellent young baritone Jeroan Yip (photo), alumni of Wells Cathedral School and now a student at Exeter University

Nine pieces of music and nine readings of poetry/prose. Music highlights included: Sussex Carol

( On Christmas Night) arr Vaughan Williams, There Is No Rose from A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten, All Bells in Paradise and What Sweeter Music by John Rutter and Carols of the Bells a Ukrainian Folk Tune. We also sang a number of carols with the audience joining in some.

Mozart's first full mass - Missa Brevis in G KV 49 with a string quartet.

Then after the interval we sang

opera choruses (photo above) including Rossini, Villagers chorus (Guillaume Tell) in French. Bizet, Habanera (Carmen) in French, Handel, Enchanted Islanders (Alcina) in French. Puccini, Humming chorus (Madama Butterfly) in Italian. Verdi, Anvil chorus (Il Trovatore), and Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves (Nabucco) in Italian. Hazel sang Dido's Lament, (accompanied by Isabelle Woollcott, cello, and Carol Galton, keyboard) the aria "When I am laid in earth" from the opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell. Our accompanist Carol Galton played ‘AIR’ FROM PIANO SUITE by Helen Hopekirk'. Conductor, Tim Pithers.
